Happy New Year, everybody!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Holiday season is always crazy! Mine is a little bit longer. It won't be ended till the winter vacation is gone. I think... Some of the party left over are still in my refrigerator and I need to prepare something new again... This weekend we still have a gathering. I also need to prepare some food. This time is stew pork. I am surprised that I didn't gain weight after these two months. LOL

This card is made mainly for our Crafty Gals group challenge. The details of the challenge is:

"NEWNESS"

As mentioned, I am expecting my first baby at the end of February. We're pretty excited to celebrate this new addition and new stage in our lives.
My challenge to you for the Crafty Girls January challenge is to celebrate newness....it doesn't have to be a new baby...perhaps it's a New Year, new marriage, new job, new friend, etc.
In addition, use the opportunity to try a out a new technique (or template, something you haven't tried before). SCS has a great resources section with plenty of techniques, fancy folds, projects, etc.

The new things I tried on my card is drawing everything digitally by myself and then print them out. There is no designer paper used in this card project. I also arrange font and made the banner too. It took me much more longer than making a usual card!!

Also this is the first baby card I made! It's very colorful! I haven't put these many colors on my projects for a long time. I like the result! Maybe I will have more of this kind in the future.

2 Cards by Using Punch Around the Edge

I bought this set of punch around the edge. For the picture above, I only used the edge punch, not the whole set. (The snowflake is from the other punch.) After using this new set of punch a few times, I have to say--I love it!

This time I use Mojo Monday's sketch to make the card. I flipped the layout and changed the shapes a bit. I should have checked there earlier so I didn't miss the contest.

I used glitter pen after I punched out and glued all the butterflies. Not difficult, just need a bunch of care and whole lot of patience to wait till they dry. Next time I will use glitter paper instead...

I used the whole set of punch around the edge and get the result of the golden frame. Stamped with white color ink pad. It faded a bit after it dried. Brought out the flower gems I bought long time ago. YA! I finally found a spot to let them shine! I also colored the embossing paper with a bit of red.

Spin! Spin! Spin!

Anything new to me is worth trying. I made a few hanging ornaments before. This time I want it on my card! I don't want it just stick there and can't move. I don't want something too fancy that is hard to send. I keep thinking and thinking, then here is the result I reach!! A spinning medallion card!!

It is TWO-sided! This is another side of it!

For the front side, I created my own sentiment because I don't have any stamp about new year. On another side, the snowflake is made from a punch all over place punch from Martha Stewart. They modified their products and now the punches can create a specific of pattern without too much measurement. These punches are expensive. I got it when Michael's stores are on sale.

A Sparkled Season's Greetings

Two Merry Christmas Cards

Hi! How's everybody's Thanksgiving? I had a great week hanging out with family and old friends.

I also spent some time shopping electronic stuffs on black Friday and cyber Monday. I got an external hard drive as gift! I think that's my early Christmas gift! LOL Next time I don't need to un-installed some old games before playing new game! Horray!

Anyway, I got some good rest after all that. Now its time to re-focus on cardmaking! It's almost Christmas. I need to make more cards. Wish most of the challenges can be applied to the theme. : p

This week I use the Paper Players' sketch to make the two cards. I used two side ribbons and new paper pad from Recollections. I think I like DCWV's paper better. Most of DCWV's paper has real paper texture that one can touch and feel. They also have real embossing and glitter on it. However this Recollections paper is not that bad. It is heavy enough to hold and also has some real glitter decoration on it.

Black & White with a Splash of Orange

YA! I am so happy that I finally get a chance to use the ribbon I bought recently! I hid it under the scallop & leave! I love the texture a lot!

This week I used The Play Date Cafe's color combination and CASE Study's card as guideline to make this CAS card. I changed the banner into a tag, then this card also fulfilled the theme of CAS-ual Fridays.

A two colors Thank You Card

I have seen many pretty 3D paper medallions around. There are some nice collection in Moxie and Martha too. I also made a regular one in the past. It is not too hard to make. It just not easy to put in an envelope and send it without worrying it being damaged. However the outcome of using a border punch on it is so beautiful. I have to make some, otherwise I will think about them all day long! :D

Here is one of my medallion cards. Paper blog united has a challenge using neutral and one more color to make a paper project. There can be 2 or 3 shade of neutral on it. I chose yellow for the season of celebraton! And kraft as the neutral color with some gold on it.

As you know, I like my spellbinders floral doily die a lot! I also like neutral colors. I started right away, as soon as I know about the challenge!

I use a sketch from CardPatterns. Flip it and move the ribbon a bit.

Many people use scoring board to make the medallion. It is not that convenient if the border punch's pattern doesn't match the score line. Hence, I create my easy made scoring board by using a paper pad, ruler, stylus, and cutting board.

So I move my ruler along with the wall of the paper pad. Then I scored a few of my punched stripes. :D

I also homemade shimmer mist. It's easy and cost less! (I like saving!) I bought a few spray bottles for 1 dollar each. Put some water and two to three drops of gold acrylic paint in. Shake a bit! (For less shaking, I put two glasses balls in.) Then it's ready to use!

Did you see the gold shimmer? I am very happy with it!

For better spray result, spray from 6 inches high. Also put some scrape paper to keep table clean. After the spray, use heat gun to make it dry within a few seconds.

As you see in the picture, the acrylic paint in bottles precipitate very quick. The gold one became milk tea. The silver one looks like water. LOL

If you have already bought some pearl powders, glitter, or re-inker and don't know how to make them into glimmer mist, here is a written tutorial for all these.

I came across a nice sketch magazine blog--Sketch Support. They don't have challenges to play, but they have many variation of a single sketch and even with the measurement! I use one of their sketches. I like the original composition, so I only made minor changes. Then the stripes go over the edge and fullfilled the requirement of CSC27.

This week The Paper Players has Recipe challenge. Combine with Tuesday Trigger's colors and flowers theme. That's how I made my card. I added some watermark by using VersaMark Dazzle ink pad on the white card base. It really picked up all the details the stamp has! And it's shiny! I also distressed the edges and glued some glitter on the sentiment.

Two pink clean & simple cards for the month of breast cancer!! I made the butterfly flying out of it's frame. Wish whoever receive this can relieve him or her of pain and bring back hope.

This is a peek of the current felt project. Learned from here, except the stem.

This is the month for Breast Cancer. I am trying to make some cards for the cause. Then I find out I don't have any pink pattern paper, but most of the project need at least a touch of pink. Fortunately, I do have some pink cardstock and ribbons. I guess I will stick to clean and simple style for a while. LOL!

I got a sketch from Card Patterns and mixed the idea of polka dots from Less is More. The treat is a requirement from challenge HYCCT1120. This is basically how the card is formed.

The cupcake is made from spellbinder dies. The toppings are scraps from a border punch.

Fall Color

I want to make an Autumn lighting ornament for a long time. I bought all the ribbon, felts and lights almost a month ago. Finally, I squeezed some time to get it done! (The felt will go to next display/ornament project.)

I was planning to submit my ornament to The Shabby Tea Room and City Crafter #79 Harvest Festival . However, I am 2 hours late to the previous one... But it's ok. I will always find some other great challenges to join.

This is the season of harvest. The small orange balls of the ribbon are like the fruits. They are so cute~

What's in the box is not a real candle; It is just a fake but safe LED candle. The light will flicker and glow like a real one. Very interesting!! It can lasts 120 hours! Sweet~~ I bought this LED candle pack from BJ'S. It uses CR2032 battery and is included.

The white block below is actually a punch from EK success. Good thing is it can punch all over the page. The con is it has no measurement on it. It's very hard to make a nice looking pattern.

I like this stamp set from Inkadinkado. It's very playful! Love all the little leaves and flowers on it! The tag is from half of a spellbinder die. The leaves are all from spellbinder.

This weekend I took a sketch from Dutch Dare Card Challenges #134 and the pocket card idea from Melina, and made this! Thanks for inspiring me!

This pocket is designed for gift card usage. The black oriental stripe comes from the masking tape I bought from Taiwan. I imitated the pattern and drew the rest golden flowers. The picture is my lovely kitten Luka. I extracted the background and then print out to cut. The little orange bird is my doodle. I made two of these card, one for birthday the other for holidays.

I found a sketch challenge from clean and simple #161. I wanted to design a card that's more masculine so guys would use them. Here is my take!

As usual, if I can't find a sentiment stamp that fits the size and purpose I create my own on computer. It's much easier than driving to a store or buying it online and wait for shipping.

This is the first time I use the Spellbinders sprightly sprockets die I bought months ago. I also bought another embossing folder of this kind. Maybe I will use that for the other card.

Celebrate Halloween

This is a card and also a display. I wish I can find some creepy sound mini device to attach with it. However, I don't want to buy another ornament just for the device inside.

I made the card from scratch. Failed one. Modified my approach a bit to get the resulting card! My friend said I made Luka so evil in this one. LOL!

When I saw this sketch in Clean & Simple #159, I wonder how my card will be if the background has pattern. Will it be too busy? Hence, I gave it a try and this is it. How is it? Please feel free to tell me your true feeling. : )

I got this background from inking the embossing folder.
I typed my own sentiment and used Labels Twenty die cut from spellbinders. I drew my kitten Luka and then cut it out. The rest are from punches.

Autumn Spirit

Our group, Paper Bloggers United, has a challenge for September to create something "Fall." That's exactly what I hope for as challenge, and I make 3 cards for this!

There was some sales in Michael's. Most of them is 40% off or more. I bought some paper, tools and stamps. They didn't seem expensive, but I ended up spendings couple hundreds in total. Can't believe that!

The stamps in these three cards are from Inkadinkado. I had a fun time of matching colors. I stamped more than enough squares for the three cards. LOL!

I typed and printed my own sentiments on paper then die-cut it. Although I could've use stamps to write those sentiments, I wanted to try this technique.

Some additional remarks for the 3 cards:

I used scissors to cut the circle and hand-made the black embellishment for the 1st card. The maple leaf is just a sticker.

For the 2nd card, the die-cut around the sentiment is from spellbinders classic scalloped heart. I used the brad to anchor the bow to the die-cut; I got a bunch of Recollections brads half price from Michaels this time. I used a boarder punch brought from another country. Art and Craft stuffs are so much cheaper in other countries, however they triple the price or more when they sell in USA :-(

The die cut of the last card is spellbinders floral doily motifs. I like this set of dies a lot!

Love in the Air

This week, in the Shabby Tea Room, they have "Pink Wedded Bliss" challenge. The image of two cats popped into my mind when I saw the challenge. Although it's a bit generic, I still want to make it for kitten Luka.

Luka is getting used to his new home. He doesn't like to sleep in his own bed. He finds his own spots--sofa and closet. His sleeping postures are so funny. It's like he is doing yoga!

In his first week here, he was so good and quiet. He was afraid to touch anything in his small room. Now he dares to jump onto the table when no one is there. How do I know since I wasn't there? Because he forget to clean up his foot print! *Laugh*

Raining Flowers & Luka

After I hopped around many challenge blogs, I found "Less is More" has a special challenge going on. It's themes are metallic and CAS! Finally the foil I bought weeks ago can be used. The downside of using black foil is that it can be easily scratched. The color will be gone if the card isn't properly stored. Vintage style will be a better choice for colored foil.

I also decided to add my little kitten Luka to all of my recent cards if I can. This one is no exception!

My Little Luka and Tea

CELEBRATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the first card I made for a new member of the family, Luka, my adopted kitten! He is so adorable and beautiful that the center worker keeps thinking he is a she. LOL

Luka was named Sirius, but Sirius sounds too serious...... I wanted the name be cute and simple. We came up Dodo, Mimi, Fluffy, etc.. Then "Luka" came to my mind! Yes, Luka, it is!

On our way back, we bought all the essential goods for him. The food part is a little bit tricky. The food that the adoption center gave him was a bit difficult to find. We went to several place to find it. The first store is out of power because of hurricane Irene... The 2nd and 3rd one don't have. Finally we found it in a Petco store. :D

One thing that's so unfortunate is the scratching post missing a screw................. We didn't notice that until we tried to assemble it at home. ARRRRR!!!!

I doodle so many about these two bird. I love this one the most!! Don't some people always try to irritate you? But before you get mad at them. They stop!! This kind of little habit happens between friends a lot! It won't hurt you. You won't really get mad. It's fun and warm. It shows they care about you.

This card is inspired by the photo of Tuesday Trigger at Moxie. The wall is pink so is the background of the card. The black decorates the pink room/card. Finally a bit of crystal and gold make the room/card looks a modern luxury. Ta-da!!

The flower is hand drawn and cut by me, not from die cut. Fortunately, it comes out great after some adjustment. Hope you like it. :D

I recently read a manga called Vampire Knight 吸血鬼騎士.
I can't say the story is real catchy for me......but the characters are all handsome and beautiful! lol
Their outfits are complicate and nice looking.

When it comes to draw the characters..........it's sooooooooooo painful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TOOOOOOO MUCH DETAILS TO REMEMBER.........................GOD!!!!!!!!!!
It takes lots of time to observe too............

Anyway........I just wanna say......I did try my best to capture the emotion and draw them in my style....

NYC after the two tornadoes

I was outside earlier yesterday evening when it was still a nice day.
After I arrived my friends' apartment, not for long, the sky changed!!
First it started raining like a thunderstorm.
Then the wind ground the building so hard that we can feel the shake......!
We started wondering what kind of thunderstorm and look out of the windows...........

WOW!!! The whole flushing is inside the gray cloud!!
I can see the cloud moving right through between buildings like we was in the airplane!
Not for long, it became normal and then stopped.
Amazing experience!!

I guessed lots of people called each other after that.
After one hour, I got phone calls asking if I was alright.
Today I also got some.
Half of them were excited/shocked about the trees on sidewalk were gone.
Some saw their neighbors have their house got a big bite...
Yea.......I was sooooo glad I wasn't outside when the tornadoes came.........
Otherwise I may not be here and took all these pictures.
I am also glad my home is still in one piece although the disaster made me circle around just to get home.

All the pictures above are taken this evening.

It has been 4 months that I haven't been drawing......
I really wish I can have this habit back.
That's also why I open this blogger.
Wish there are some nice people who can push me and give me some relevant feedbacks.

I was back right on time to watch the small drama in world chat of a game.
Most of time, it's fun!!
This time was about the marriage between 2 famous in-game players.
Many people in this server recognize them and I happened to know them as well, because I was once in the alliance.
I don't know the true details.
What I write down here are all rumors I heard. FUN RUMORS!! LOL

Marriage usually isn't a big thing in game.
However, the she married a few times already and each of her ex-husbands quit the game.
Those players who don't approve the marriage is because they don't want the he quit one day.
The black widow is mainly come from this reason.

I am not against the marriage.
It is an online RPG, not real.
They can marry whoever they want, as long as it doesn't have ill-effect on me.
I personally think she is a nice person.
She answered my newbie questions. lol (such a simple reason)

my JD character

I have been playing JD for years, before the ascension and when the Jaden and USA dollar was only 30:1.
Now is about 350:1.
The inflation is so high that I'm hardly willing to buy anything in cash shop.
This frost pelt dress may be the first and last fashion in JD that I bought.
I don't like the original frost pelt fashion set that JD has.
Hence, I bought the shoes from the other set to show the nice long leg my character has. lol

I got this pictured done in this April. (2010)
It took me lots of time to draw because I didn't draw for a quite long time.
I think what motivated me to start this picture was the anxiety of wanting to draw.
What surprised me was my drawing skill improved...!
Without practicing, my shadow and color mixing skill became nicer.
I was quite happy. >V<
